Laser printing uses heat and pressure to bond toner to a surface to create the required printed image. Laser labels are made with materials that provide a smooth surface, which helps to ensure that an even amount of toner bonds in the exact place needed, improving the print accuracy and quality of the finished label. Laser materials also cope well with exposure to higher temperatures, which prevents them from being damaged or deformed by the heat used during the printing process. Paper laser labels usually have a higher moisture content to prevent the paper from drying out and cracking while they are being printed. Due to the heat generated by laser printers, some materials may curl slightly on exiting the printer; this can be reduced by using the media bypass tray, printing individual sheets at a time, and by allowing the sheets to lay flat face down.

All of our material lists include a column indicating if each product is compatible with inkjet printers or laser printers (or both). Some of our laser labels can be printed with both inkjet and laser printers. However, if you use a laser printer to print a material intended for inkjet printers only, you may get poor quality print, excess toner left on the surface, or print that scratches off easily, which is why you should always make sure that you select the correct label product.
