All of the materials used to make clear labels need to be transparent. This simply means that they "transmit" light (allow light to travel through the material rather than reflecting off its surface), which allows us to see through the material.

There are different levels of transparency. Truly clear or transparent materials will allow you to see objects beyond. Materials that are only partly transparent and offer a more "fuzzy" view are known as translucent or frosted materials. These materials still transmit light but scatter it in the process.

Our clear labels are not translucent or frosted; they are also not "glass clear". If you apply them onto a solid white or coloured surface, you will be able to see that surface clearly through each label. If you apply them onto glass, however, they will not be 100% clear. This is because the adhesive layer may trap small air bubbles as a label is stuck down, which creates a very slightly frosted appearance.

Transparent materials are really versatile. They are usually made from synthetic materials, like our polyesters, which are both waterproof and durable. They can be supplied in matt or gloss finishes. You can match the surface you are labelling to get a "no label" look (so it blends in with the labelled surface) or you can use contrasting finishes to draw attention to your label.

Clear materials are a simple way to side step the challenge, costs, and time required to accurately colour match existing print work. This means you can add information or designs that blend in seamlessly with existing print.

Transparent labels are most commonly used to add information or designs to existing print, as decorative seals for packaging, or as protective, waterproof covers for non-waterproof print (usually inkjet print). They produce a high quality professional and decorative appearance, which means they are extremely popular for labelling products and packaging - especially on cosmetics and homeware products.

• Addressing envelopes and parcels – our clear materials will make your print look like part of the envelope or package. They are brilliant on coloured and textured envelopes because they side step colour matching issues and don't cover up the decorative surface. This is especially important when labelling branded envelopes and packaging or items related to a special occasion (such as birthday, christening, anniversary, or wedding invitations) or a promotional event.
  GTP and MTP are both fully waterproof, which is perfect for long-distance shipping labels and tracking labels because they won’t get damaged by damp environments.
  
  
• Labelling products, packaging, and marketing or promotional materials – our clear materials are particularly useful on branded packaging, boxes, bags, and materials because any existing print will show through clearly. They can also be used as a quick, easy, and budget-friendly way to add branding (such as company logos, colours, and messaging) to non-branded packaging. Clear materials are also a great way to label items made from glass or plastic as they don't distract from the clear objects.
  GTP, MTP, and GTR fully waterproof, which makes them perfect for products that either contain liquids (like cosmetics jars or wine bottles) or may be exposed to wet conditions (like bathroom, kitchen, and gardening products).
  GTR can be used to temporarily add information to items, such as offer details that can be removed when a promotion ends.
  GTR is also perfect for gift products because information can be removed easily and cleanly from each item. This is particularly useful on paper items, such as books and cards, or clear materials, such as glass and plastic.
  
  
• Seals for product packaging – clear materials are the perfect way to make professional and decorative seals for product packaging. Using a clear seal means that the decorative materials or branding that you have chosen for your packaging remains visible. Our round sizes are particularly popular for this application.
  GTR can be used as temporary seals on delicate surfaces like paper or glass if you need to make sure that your items aren’t damaged when the seal is removed. For example, holding a card and envelope together for sale. 
  
  
• Clear white board – GCP can be used to create adhesive white boards. The ink used in dry white board marker pens sits on top of the coating and wipes away easily. These boards can be used as notice or reminder boards, to track stock levels, as re-usable signs, as part of filing systems, as educational tools, or as children's toys.
  
  
• Temporary signs for events and shows – GTR is a great way to create signs and notices for short term use. This could be temporary signage in an office or shop, display information in galleries, or signs for special events being held in outdoor spaces. They can also be used to create temporary reserved seating signs.
  
  
• Manufacturing – GTR can be used to add information or instructions to products or parts during manufacturing, which can later be removed during the final packing and distribution stage. Alternatively, it can create a protective cover for specific areas during the manufacturing process.
