Label Glossary In Alphabetical Order.
Welcome to Label Planet's Label Glossary.
On this page you'll find a list of label terms and their definitions, which you might find handy in the world of labels and labelling, organised and sorted alphabetically. Here at Label Planet, we spend a lot of time immersed in all things label and we tend to pick up useful bits of information along the way. So we thought we'd share our knowledge and build a label glossary to help our customers navigate their way through the lexicon of labels. While some areas of labelling are quite straightforward, there are any number of technical terms that you might come across along the way, which may prove complicated or confusing.
Each term has been researched carefully to give the best possible explanation of that particular word and to identify (where applicable) any words with multiple meanings in the labelling and printing industries - and there might be more than you'd expect. We've tried to include definitions for terms that you might come across at any stage of the labelling process including choosing the right adhesive and label material(s) to suit your particular labelling requirements, sourcing (and buying) labels, designing a label template, and printing and applying labels.
To find a term, you can use the search bar or click on the appropriate letter below to see if we have a definition for that term.
If you can't find the term you're looking for, please send us a email with the word you're looking for and we'll reply with the definition you need - plus we'll get it added to our Glossary for future use!
