Adhesives have two stages; instant adhesion and ultimate adhesion. Ultimate adhesion occurs after the application of an adhesive material, such as a label; following application to a substrate, the bond between an adhesive and an adherend will continue to strengthen until it reaches the maximum strength (or holding power) possible.
