Brightness - What is brightness?

Definition of BRIGHTNESS:

In labelling, brightness is a measure of the amount of light reflected by a material (usually paper); in particular, it refers to the perception of an object based on the amount of light reflected by that object that is visible to the human eye. Brightness is measured as the amount of blue light reflected by a material under standardised conditions.

A prism being used to refract light; the brightness of materials is measured by the amount of blue light they reflect under standard conditions.
