Dwell - What does dwell mean?
Definition of DWELL:
In general terms, dwell can be used to refer to the length of time during which two surfaces, substances, materials, or objects are in contact with each other.
In labelling, the term can be used to refer more specifically to the length of time during which pressure is applied to a pressure sensitive label during application of the label, or the length of time during which a pressure sensitive label remains on a substrate before an attempt is made to remove the label; this is done when testing to see if the adhesion of a label is suitable for its intended application, whether this is testing the strength of a permanent label or the removability of a removable label.
In printing, the term can also refer to the length of time during which a thermal print head is in contact with a substrate during printing.
