Initial Tack - What is initial tack?
Definition of INITIAL TACK:
In labelling, initial tack is the quality or strength of a material's tack (or "stickiness“) at the point of application, while the material is in a fluid or semi-fluid state. Adhesives, coatings, and printing inks and toners all have a level of initial tack that allows for an instant adhesion to an adjacent or subsequent layer in a pressure sensitive construction or substrate. Initial tack is sometimes referred to as grab; the adhesive, coating, ink, or toner adheres to a surface immediately upon contact with minimum pressure and contact time.
