Media Bypass Tray - What is a media bypass tray?
Definition of MEDIA BYPASS TRAY:
Sometimes called the Media Bypass Slot or the Bypass Tray, this is a secondary tray that usually sits just above or below the normal paper tray. The media bypass tray is designed to process thicker printing media (compared to the main paper tray, which is designed specifically for standard sheets of paper) and to offer a straighter path through the printer by bypassing at least one set of rollers. This reduces the risk of labels peeling off their backing sheet as they are fed through/around the rollers and improves print alignment by reducing the chances of the sheets rotating as they are pulled through the printer.
