Penetration - What is penetration?
Definition of PENETRATION:
The undesirable movement of components from one layer of a pressure sensitive label (or substrate) into another area of the label (or substrate). Penetration occurs when some of the ink or toner, face material, adhesive, or substrate (or any combination of these) moves into another layer of the label or into the substrate. This can cause a change in the appearance of the affected area and may possibly reduce the efficiency of the label; for example, there may be a discolouration of the face stock or the tack of the adhesive may be reduced.
