Definition of SILK FINISH:

A type of finish. A surface or colour with a silk finish falls between the dull, non-shiny finish of matt materials and the bright and shiny finish of gloss materials. A silk finish will diffuse light; the degree of shine is determined by the extent to which reflected light is spread out as it leaves the surface of a silk finish material. Its smooth surface and semi-shiny finish produce high quality print results and high readability, making this a popular finish for use on marketing materials such as product brochures and leaflets.

In labelling, coatings, face materials, and inks with silk finishes can be used to create labels with a silk finish.
