Definition of SLIT or SPLIT:
A cut or slit in a layer of a pressure sensitive construction that facilitates the removal of a label from the backing sheet. Slits or splits can be added to the face material (these cuts are known as face slits or face splits and the face material is referred to as slit face or split face) or the backing sheet (these cuts are known as back slits, back splits, liner slits, or liner splits and the backing sheet is referred to as slit back, split back, slit liner, or split liner).
