Substrate - What is a substrate?
Definition of SUBSTRATE:
A general term for an underlying layer or surface. In labelling, substrate refers to the surface onto which a label is applied.
In printing, substrate refers to the surface that is to be printed, meaning that the face material (and top coatings) of a label may also be referred to as a substrate.
