Here are the label sizes we recommend using to print Royal Mail PPI stamps.
Royal Mail offer a service that allows customers to create and download their own PPI stamps to print onto all of their postal items, from the smallest of envelopes to the biggest of parcels.
Last year, Royal Mail updated all of the PPI designs available for each of their delivery categories and created designs for their new “Royal Mail 24” and “Royal Mail 48” services. You can find all of the sizes and PPI designs on the Royal Mail’s website.
You can choose to print your PPI designs directly onto your envelopes or packaging; however, you may prefer to print onto labels that can then be applied to all kinds of packaging. The Royal Mail offers guidelines and advice for choosing and printing your PPIs, but the two main things you need to think about if you want to print onto labels are:
1. The amount of available blank space on your envelopes, packets, or packages.
(The Royal Mail has specific guidelines for the size and positioning of any information that is added onto envelopes and packaging – see their website for full details)
2. The size of label you buy needs to be BIGGER than the size of the PPI design, to ensure that the entire PPI will fit neatly onto your label.
We’ve put together a list of EXAMPLE label sizes that you could choose, depending on the PPI design you decide to use:
FIRST CLASS, SECOND CLASS, ECONOMY, ADVERTISING MAIL (Big Book/Heavyweight options) – ENGLISH VERSIONS
- Design 1 measures 14mm x 54mm – you could use LP27/63 (29.6mm x 63.5mm)
- Design 2 measures 30mm x 58mm – you could use LP18/63 (46.6mm x 63.5mm)
- Design 3 measures 22mm x 80mm – you could use LP16/99 (34mm x 99.1mm)
- Design 4 measures 26mm x 93mm – you could use LP16/99 (34mm x 99.1mm)
FIRST CLASS, SECOND CLASS, ECONOMY, ADVERTISING MAIL (Big Book/Heavyweight options) – BILINGUAL VERSIONS
- Design 1 measures 14mm x 62mm – you could use LP27/63 (29.6mm x 63.5mm)
- Design 2 measures 22mm x 80mm – you could use LP16/99 (34mm x 99.1mm)
- Design 3 measures 26mm x 93mm – you could use LP16/99 (34mm x 99.1mm)
Where these four services have PPI designs made up of two parts (the “Delivered by Royal Mail” mark and a Delivery Speed Indicator), the “Royal Mail 24” and “Royal Mail 48” PPI designs have either two components (where space is limited) or three components (where a Service Graphics Box is added at the left hand side of the PPI design). This means that these designs are larger and so will require a larger size of label.
