A short guide to finding compatible self adhesive labels and templates.
There are a lot of different label brands, manufacturers, and suppliers across the labelling industry, which means there are a lot of different products, templates, and codes to choose from. Here's our short guide to making sure that you can find self adhesive labels and templates that are compatible.
Do You Sell Any Particular Brand Of Label Products?
We do not sell ANY branded label products (apart from our own name label products); all of our labels are independently manufactured in the UK using high quality materials, with some of our products being compatible with standard label sizes.
What Do You Mean By Compatible With Standard Sizes?
A number of label sizes and layouts have become "standard" products in the labelling industry. These label sizes and layouts have a wide range of benefits - such as producing little waste material around and between the labels and being suitable for a wide range of label applications - which makes them extremely popular with customers and label manufacturers alike.
When we say that some of our label sizes are compatible with standard sizes, we mean that they are made in these standard sizes - using the exact same label size and layout as standard label products made by other label manufacturers.
Some of our customers come to us asking if we can supply labels that are compatible with labels they have purchased elsewhere. Some have struggled to find a supplier of the product they want, some want a better price, others want to buy a particular size in a material not offered by their previous supplier, and some have had problems with the quality of other label products. Each of these customers wants to find a replacement label product that is the same (in size and layout) as the products they have bought before so that they don’t have to waste time trying to find a similar alternative (or re-designing their templates).
Choosing a compatible product means that you can use the same template(s) as you always do; you simply have to put our labels into your printer instead of someone else’s!
Why Are There So Many Compatible Codes For One Label Planet Size?
Most of the Label Planet products that are compatible with standard label sizes will have multiple compatible product or template codes from other suppliers. This is in part due to the fact that many manufacturers use their own product and template codes BUT is also caused by a common practice used across the labelling industry when creating product and template codes.
Some manufacturers use the same code to refer to a particular product and the template designed for that product. The problem is that these manufacturers will often supply the exact same size and layout in different materials. Each of these material options is given its own unique code and a matching template - even though the templates for these different material options will be exactly the same because these products use the same label size.
I Want To Find Out If You Have A Compatible Product – What Should I Do?
If you are trying to find a compatible Label Planet product for a product code or template code from another manufacturer, there are two ways to search:
- Compare the measurements of your label code or template code with our measurements. First, use our Label Finder to see if we offer the same label size. Then you can use the measurements listed on the individual template page for that label size to make sure we use the same label layout.
- Get in touch with our Customer Service Team and we'll let you know if we offer a compatible product.
I’ve Bought Labels From You But I Can’t Find A Compatible Code To Set Up My Template – What Should I Do?
There are two possibilities here; your software doesn't include the template codes that are compatible with your labels OR there simply isn't a built-in template that is compatible with that particular label size.
