Our labels are made with a variety of adhesives, ranging from extremely strong permanent adhesives to extremely light removable adhesives, along with a selection of “speciality” adhesives, which are designed to provide adhesion in more unusual environments (e.g. freezer and marine conditions). All of the adhesives we supply are listed in the table below along with a brief description of the properties and characteristics of each adhesive.

For most applications a standard permanent adhesive will work well; the objective of a label is usually to stay firmly in place, so that the information on the label remains with the object it is stuck to. To make a label stickier, more adhesive is coated onto the back of the labels during raw material manufacturing or a stronger adhesive is used in place of a standard adhesive. However, there is a limit as to how much adhesive can be applied because the material has to be fed through rollers in a printer and, if too much adhesive is used, the adhesive could bleed out from the edges of the label.
You may find that your label application has environmental factors or more unusual requirements that make a standard permanent adhesive a less suitable choice. In this case you will need to select a special adhesive that has been designed for more extreme conditions (e.g. outdoors or in a freezer) or designed to produce a specific type or strength of adhesion (e.g. high tack or removable). You can find out more about the properties of each adhesive by clicking on the Material Specification Sheet link on the range page of each of our label products.
Label applications that involve extremes of temperature or exposure to solvents will need specialist solutions and you should be able to find the product you need from one of the companies reviewed here.
Please ask for samples if you would like to test these labels first; where the adhesive is of particular importance, we recommend that you mimic the label application as closely as you can with your samples to establish if a particular label product is suitable for the purpose at hand (including allowing time for the adhesive to strengthen and set completely).
